With the Olympic and Paralympic Games drawing ever closer and Government is encouraging employees in London to work from home during the Games, to avoid difficulty commuting. Assist Ltd, specialist in virtualisation and Cloud support, is expecting high demand for their remote access services that enable employees to access all the office systems when working remotely.
The capital’s public transport scored poorly in the IOC’s initial evaluation of the bid, and organisers predict that we will see an extra three million trips made on top of the 12 million made during an average London workday. Transport Secretary, Philip Hammond has stressed that he would like to see the majority of staff working from home during the 2012 Olympic Games, to avoid potential travel chaos and pressure on the rail network.
‘We are urging London businesses to start considering how they will cope during the Olympics now, as a matter of urgency,’ adds Kevin Goodall, head of business development at Assist. ‘Many are already starting to be nervous about an inevitable loss of employee productivity and income, and they need to take action. We can make it possible for staff to work from home or another location away from the office, remaining fully operational and with no loss of productivity. Companies need to start investigating installing appropriate software and systems now.’
